Job Responsibilities


The Consolidation & Accounting Specialist performs the consolidation and is responsible to support quarterly reporting. This role supports bookkeeping and reporting for headquarter (partially) and a defined number of Idorsia entities. Besides being the first level support of all daily accounting matters, you ensure accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings.



  • Supports affiliate Finance Managers in accounting and reporting

  • Maintains and updates Group Accounts Descriptions

  • Prepares consolidation journal entries, eliminates intercompany transactions, and consolidated divisional and subsidiary financial accounts on a timely and accurate basis for inclusion in internal and external financial statements and reporting

  • Define and set up Group analytical reporting structure such as Group Chart of Accounts, maintains and updates Group Accounts Descriptions

  • Support in the implementation of new accounting standards and other business-specific accounting transaction in the Group’s accounting and reporting systems

  • Support affiliate Finance Managers and HQ controllers on corrective measures

  • Prepares, records, analyses and reports accounting transactions of IPL and certain other smaller Idorsia companies

  • Supports various General ledger bookings and reconciliations for IPL and certain other smaller Idorsia companies

  • Supports in VAT accounting and VAT reconciliation

  • Ensures accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year-end close processes for the respective entities

  • Monthly, quarterly and year-end reporting in SAP Group Reporting for the respective entities

  • Performs complex journal entries for HQ entities

  • Supports in ERP and consolidation developments and ICFR documentation updates

  • Support Director Finance HQ and External Reporting in application and implementation of new accounting standards and complex or unusual accounting transactions

  • Ensure the compliance with and implementation of Idorsia and applicable regulatory guidelines and control standards

  • Foster development of compliance and audit awareness/participation and promote cross-functional communications

  • Assume ownership of assigned internal controls and promote best practice Internal controls to be built into, not onto, business processes


 


Candidate’s Requirements



  • University degree (Master/Bachelor) in Accounting/Finance and Controlling

  • Certified Public Accountant or Certified Expert for Accounting and Controlling

  • At least 6 years professional experience of which at least 4 years in a group finance department or over 2 years of experience in consulting and audit business

  • Excellent knowledge of statutory and intercompany relations and its effect within the consolidation of legal entities – knowing how to consolidate a complex affiliate structure and complex accounting transactions

  • Knowledge of US-GAAP and its interpretation

  • Knowledge of “local” statutory accounting and its application

  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical industry would be an asset

  • Good experience with consolidation software and finance related IT tools as well as its implementation, ideally SAP BCS or SAP Group Reporting

  • Used to work with integrated ERP systems and management reporting tools

  • Understanding of audit work and documentation requirements in consistently changing economic environment and accounting requirements

  • Knowledge of Internal Control Framework, SOX404 requirements is an asset

  • Excellent communication skills, ability to communicate with external and internal partners 

  • Clear sense of priorities, meeting deadlines and timely planning of recurring tasks and closing requirements

  • Autonomous working-style

  • Ability to account for complex transactions (IP R&D, leasing, contingencies, pension, F(x) etc.)

  • Fluent in English; German and French is an asset
