Digital Security / Privacy Course Developer and Instructor (80-100%) - EPFL Extension School
Your mission :
The EPFL Extension School is looking for an experienced digital security / privacy professional to join our team as a course developer and instructor. The course developer will be responsible for the creation of course content, production of video and online learning materials (including lessons, quizzes, exams), supporting learners through 1 to 1 video-based tuition, support forum as well as for their course and project work, management of relationships with course presenters and industry partners, and general contributions to the overall development and success of the EPFL Extension School. This is not a security / operational job, but a content development and teaching role, with a focus on security, privacy and trust.
The audience for these courses extends to a large, general public and the knowledge level of the learners will range from novice (no prior experience) to intermediate (strong familiarity, possibly but not necessarily university or post-graduate level knowledge). The course developer and instructor should be able to adapt his/her instruction and support (explaining topics, guiding learners to achieving learning objectives, stepping through exercises, learner support) accordingly. Your profile :
You should have a solid, demonstrable and practical background in all domains of cybersecurity relevant to both a beginner and an intermediate-level learner. In particular, we expect you to be well-versed in the modern threats posed when using the internet, and established approaches to protect against these threats. This is alongside a knowledge of the issues surrounding personal privacy online and the complexities of managing personal data. You understand and can apply professional cybersecurity vocabulary and practices. You also have proficiency using common desktop and mobile operating systems. Familiarity with networking and internet protocols is a benefit, as is how encryption is used across the internet. Any experience with implementing cybersecurity practices in industry is a definite plus. Requirements :
Your background should include:
Previous experience with cybersecurity and online privacy projects (teaching or not);
Demonstrated ability to successfully communicate complicated topics to an audience with a wide variety of skills / skill levels - including general public learners without technical backgrounds
Excellent communications and relationship management / “people” skills
Excellent verbal presentation skills
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
Ability to complete tasks on time without close supervision
Good team player
Self-starter, capable of autonomous work
Fluent English, both written and spoken (EPFL Extension School content is in English)
Desirable other qualifications include:
Startup experience
Previous teaching experience
Experience with writing and producing educational content in a digital format
