The Ground Operations Steering & Support (HG/SX) organization supports the worldwide stations and four hubs (FRA, MUC, VIE and ZRH) of Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa and SWISS in their daily work and in exceptional situations. This includes the development and execution of reliable, innovative and efficient Ground Operations product services and processes. The focus is set on realizing synergies within the Lufthansa Group Hub Airlines and on constantly supporting the stations during their whole lifecycle.

As Manager Steering & Support Projects you are responsible for developing and driving in collaboration with the Project Sponsor, the project portfolio of the Steering & Support organization and have thereby a key role in coordinating the department’s activities. You lead projects and ensure that they are delivered on time, to budget and to the required quality as well as innovation standards. In this position, you report directly to the Head of Steering & Support Processes (HG/SX).

Your Duties

• Lead or support HG/SX projects and initiatives for assigned tasks in collaboration with Lufthansa Group Ground Operations senior management


• Define and clarify project scope, develop the project plan and the project schedule


• Develop policies and procedures to support the achievement of the project objectives


• Determine the organizational structure of the project team


• Coordinate activities across different organizational functions


• Check project progress toward meeting its objectives


• Provide status reports to the respective project sponsor


• Determine the resources (time, money, equipment, etc.) required to complete the projects


• Review the project schedule with senior management and all other staff that will be affected by the project activities; revise the schedule as required


• Execute assigned projects and initiatives according to the project plan


• Manage and accompanies change processes


• Ensure communication to defined stakeholders, project documentation


• Manage interfaces and involves Lufthansa Group Ground Operations Hub Airlines and other stakeholders to assure proper liaison to other process streams within and outside Ground Operations


• Support the HG/SX management team and department head in various operational and strategic matters


• Act as central point of contact within HG/SX Ground Operations for departmental inquiries


• Coordinate process harmonization and improvement tasks, support process interface alignment

Your profile

• High school certificate, Bachelor degree or similar education


• Strong conceptual and analytical capabilities


• Advanced project management and leadership skills


• Strong communication skills and team management

• Ground Operations background


• Very good command of German and English, written and spoken


• Group solution oriented thinking


• Strong networking and negotiation skills
