With its Simply Safe strategic phase, Baloise Group has now spent two years laying the foundation for insurance services of the future. In order to drive forward this transformation and digitalisation with the necessary speed and consistency, the existing corporate divisions are to be supplemented as of May 2019 with the newly created Group IT division.

In your function as Head of Application Services, you will be responsible for the Application Services Department as part of the newly created Shared Service Provider (SSP) organisational unit. The SSP consists of the Application Services and Infrastructure Services departments. In your new function, you will take on representation and coordination tasks for your department. As Head of Department, you will be responsible for the provision of cross-cutting applications used throughout the Group, the overall management functions of the Shared Service Provider and innovation management of the SSP. 

• Direct technical and staff management of the Application Services department


• Establishment of effective, efficient and agile application teams


• Integration, development and maintenance of applications in accordance with SLAs


• Promotion of the harmonisation and standardisation of applications used throughout the Group in coordination with the architecture management of Group IT


• Identification and pilot testing of innovation measures for optimising the SSP and its portfolio of services


• Management (finances and customer interface) of the Shared Service Provider 


• Continuous reduction of IT complexity through consolidation and automation of application landscape and processes


• End-to-end responsibility towards internal customers for all application services provided by the SSP. The responsibility also includes infrastructure services provided in this connection.

You will be responsible for the selection and further development of well-qualified employees as well as for the definition and allocation of the roles required for fulfilling the mandate. You will actively contribute on various strategic committees within Group IT and foster a lively exchange with the IT managers, departments and corporate divisions within the Baloise Group. 

As Shared Service Provider – Head of Application Services, you should also bring with you the following:

• University degree in business studies / information technology or a related discipline


• Long-standing and extensive experience in the management of IT organisations, ideally in the field of applications, and practical experience in a complex IT environment


• Proven experience in innovation management and digital issues


• Experience in the implementation of cross-border change processes in an IT environment (organisational, procedural and technical changes) 


• Knowledge of the development and management of shared application services within a corporate group


• Extensive strategic and practical IT expertise in the area of application services


• Business knowledge in the insurance and financial services sector, familiarity and experience with different sourcing models 


• Negotiating skills and management of relationships and services for internal and external partners 


• Business fluency in German and English; French language skills would be an asset
