In Subject Area Development within Karger Labs, the Karger division focused on strategy,
innovation, and product development, we are looking for a


Publication Manager (80–100%)


to join our increasingly agile organization.
In this role you develop publications (including digital products) in one or several subject areas
and manage them throughout the product life cycle. Depending on your portfolio of publications
you will report to one or more Subject Area Leads, working independently within the strategic
framework set by the Subject Area Leads.
Your responsibilities



  • I ndependently managing a portfolio of publications in assigned subject areas, including
    monitoring publications’ progress towards defined targets within subject areas

  • Setting up and fostering editorial boards, subject area-specific communities, and networks
    of influencers in collaboration with Marketing/Community Relations und Markets

  • Performing publication-specific market analyses, assessing opportunities, challenges, and
    competitors

  • Representing and promoting your publication portfolio and Karger to external stakeholders

  • P oint person for publication portfolio for other Karger departments and the team of Publication
    Specialists within Subject Area Development

  • Assisting Subject Area Leads in managing key publications and other tasks

  • The role will require international travel, up to 35% of the time

  • Line manager: Subject Area Lead


Requirements



  • Strong academic background, preferably in natural sciences, health industry, and/or in another
    field affiliated with Karger’s subject areas

  • Several years working in similar roles in scientific publishing and/or project management

  • Flair for working internationally and experience working with key opinion leaders (among them,
    Editors-in-Chief, leading researchers, and societies)

  • C omfortable dealing with a diverse portfolio of publications, each with varied deadlines,
    strategic objectives and stages in product life cycle

  • V ery good IT skills using standard software tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Excellent command of written and spoken English (German or additional languages an advantage)
