The team of toxicology project leaders is part of the Project Leaders and  Modeling and Simulation department, which drives the nonclinical safety strategies in a holistic way to ensure optimal and high quality support of portfolio and patient safety.


In this department and reporting to the Global Head of Project Leaders and Modeling and Simulation you will have the following missions and objectives:


You will lead the Toxicology Project Leaders to deliver high quality and timely scientific, strategic and operational project support from  target assessment through Phase IV for small and large molecules as well as RNA therapeutics and gene therapy across disease areas and including marketed products and due diligence assets.


You are responsible to guide and develop the scientific excellence in nonclinical safety to efficiently support Discovery, Development and Registration.


In this context your Responsibilities and Duties will be as follow:



  • Direct line manager for Toxicology Project Leaders,

  • Operational and scientific leader for all activities within the toxicology project leader organization,

  • To ensure resource allocation, work prioritization, performance management, hiring, retention and development of superior quality staff,

  • To assign people with the right competence to each project,

  • Provide leadership and contribute to a clear functional position on safety issues that arise during the evaluation of potential drug candidates,

  • To ensure compliance with Federal, State and International regulatory expectations,

  • To champion innovative approaches and drive implementation in projects throughout the value chain,

  • To grow the organization in adopting a very strategic mindset with a strong focus on decision-making experiments,

  • Provide guidance on strategic direction and content of presentations to the Non-Clinical Drug Safety Committee.

  • Maintain strong relationships to Health Authorities via active participation/representation in key, relevant working groups and scientific sessions,

  • Provide nonclinical safety advice with regard to regulatory documents/submissions (INDs. BLAs, NDAs),

  • Ensure external visibility at key and relevant external society meetings and academic alliances,

  • Member of Non-Clinical Drug Safety Committee and Global Project Leader and Modeling and Simulation Leadership team.


Qualifications requested:


You own a Ph.D. or equivalent and have at least 10 years’ experience in Toxicology in the Pharmaceutical Industry with proven abilities in leading a team of Scientists.


You demonstrated leadership with a solid understanding/appreciation of all activities relevant to Nonclinical Safety.


Able to lead and manage within a highly matrixed environment.
