• Advise and review accounting treatment under IFRS for group complex business transactions including but not limited to hedging, M&A, impairment testing and inventory valuation
• Act as internal IFRS expert, provide technical accounting advice and training to all accountants within VARO
• Coordinate with external and internal auditors as well as consultants
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements on accounting and reporting
• Continuously identify and improve internal accounting process and controls
• Prepare and review internal reports and analysis for management accounts
• Advise and coach a small but highly experienced team
• Further develop and maintain high-quality, unified and up-to-date group accounting policies, processes and manual
• Minimum 8 years relevant work experience
• Expert knowledge of IFRS
• Qualified accountant such as ACA or ACCA
• Experience in oil and gas downstream or commodity trading industry strongly preferred
• Experience in Big 4 strongly preferred
• Good knowledge of Microsoft products; especially Windows tools
• Good English language skills essential (verbal & writing); German language also beneficial
• Strong analytical, communication and team management skills
• Proactive and customer focused “make it work” mentality
• Flexibility on adapting work hours to ongoing tasks
