Ground Operations Competence Center (50-100%)

The Lufthansa Group (LHG) Ground Operations Competence Center (GCC) is part of the Steering & Support (HG/S) organization, which supports our worldwide stations and four hubs (FRA, MUC, VIE and ZRH) of Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa and SWISS.


The GCC will be providing ground operations support and guidance on a 24/7, 365 days a year basis to the roughly 250 worldwide stations in the LHG route network of Lufthansa, Austrian and SWISS. The GCC aims to provide timely, competent support and guidance for all LHG Stations, while helping to improve and sustain safety and operational performance, thereby increasing customer satisfaction – always in cooperation with the stations.


In addition to the wider LHG functions, the GCC will also maintain core specialist functions to support SWISS Ground Operations and SWISS Ground Safety Assurance.


The GCC is currently in the process of being built up, based on the foundation of the established SWISS Ground Services Competence Center (GSCC).


Yourduties



  • Guide, support and assist the international LHG stations in their daily operation as well as in extraordinary situations

  • Ensure adherence to LHG processes and procedures on international LHG stations

  • Act as a help-desk for all ground operations relevant issues

  • Observe and report operational and quality trends on international stations

  • Close cooperation with Station Managers, Duty Managers and Ground Handling Providers on stations

  • Coordinate with Lufthansa, Austrian and SWISS Operations Controls

  • Maintain and constantly update expert knowledge of LHG Ground Operations procedures

  • Support stations on-site upon request during Handling Provider changes, station openings, etc.

  • Close cooperation with LHG Ground Operations (HG) interfaces, SWISS Ground Operations (S/G) including SWISS Ground Safety Assurance (S/GQ)

  • Fulfil key operational duties on behalf of the SWISS Ground Operations “Nominated Person” organization

  • Represent Ground Operations in the daily operations at the SWISS Operations Control Center

  • Conduct mandatory ground handling Audits on international stations in coordination with SWISS Ground Safety Assurance

  • Process Ground Operations-related reports in the SWISS Reporting System (SRS)

  • Member of the LHG Emergency Organization


Your profile



  • Business or Commercial Degree or similar education

  • Solid experience in Airline Ground Operations, Passenger Service and Aircraft Handling

  • Airline DCS experience (Altéa Suite preferred) and excellent PC skills (MS Office)

  • Strong communication skills, intercultural sensitivity

  • Economical thinking and understanding with a customer-oriented mind-set

  • Very good command of written and spoken German and English; French or any other language is an asset

  • Able to prioritize multiple tasks and manage time efficiently

  • Openness to change and willingness to contribute

  • Ready to work shifts Monday – Sunday including nights and to travel abroad
