About the Role


We are looking for a temporary employee to support the Casualty Research & Development department (Casualty R&D). We will need support for 6 months, 2-3 days/week, starting from May/June 2019.


 


The main responsibilities will be:



  • Quality assurance/testing: Support the team in ensuring quality of new modelling and tool features. Preparation of tests, their execution and analysis, including improvements to the testing framework.

  • Support on improving and extending our existing model and its current implementation, including the design and execution of agile prototypes.

  • Other tasks in the many areas where the department operates, depending on candidate's background and interests


 


About the Team


Casualty R&D is a department within Group Underwriting. The team is driving an industry-wide paradigm shift from backward-looking to forward-looking modelling in casualty, going beyond traditional predictive models. The forward-looking model framework (Liability Risk Drivers™) is designed to provide unprecedented costing accuracy and risk transparency. It also allows portfolio steering, including accumulation control across casualty lines.


 


About You



  • Quantitative background: Computer science, actuarial science, natural sciences, mathematics, engineering or econometrics.

  • Solid coding experience and analytical skills: Preferably R and data acquisition tools such as SQL.

  • You are eager to learn and are willing to expand your personal toolkit in a dedicated way.

  • Drive to support the creation of structured and scalable software with a very pragmatic approach: Build on existing work, updating and complementing it when necessary.

  • Ability to collaborate with people with different profiles and backgrounds.

  • Team spirit, interpersonal and communications skills

  • Fluency in English is required
