The Head of Group Technical Accounting will lead the Accounting Policy & Practice team, headquartered in Switzerland. You will ensure a true and fair view of financial data provided to all stakeholders of ABB in compliance with the ABB Accounting & Reporting Guidelines (A&RG) based on U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) as well as other relevant instructions including regulations of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Ensure efficient operation of group reporting and consolidation processes to facilitate timely and accurate preparation of Group reporting in line with the latest regulatory requirements.
2019-04-06Mittleres Management / Senior Management• Managing reporting and consolidation processes of the ABB Group, including definition of the standards and policies for reporting and consolidation, processing and validation of subsidiaries’ input and preparation of Group public reports
• Drive continuous process improvements in reporting and consolidation to keep abreast of the latest accounting developments and changes in technology
• Leading group-wide initiatives/projects to improve financial reporting and consolidation processes and ensure compliance with rules and regulations
• Organize and facilitate internal and external training on accounting and reporting related matters
• Design and maintain internal control over financial reporting processes and perform control activities in the respective areas of responsibility
• Maintain the Group accounting policies to ensure that the A&RG are current, changes in the accounting rules are identified timely, and units are notified with sufficient time to adjust accounting practices
• Maintain reporting guidelines and chart of accounts
• Coordinate Group and Regional activities to support all ABB parties in accounting and reporting matters through resolution of accounting and reporting questions from the units, financial statement reviews and trainings as well as follow-up on the accounting issues disclosed as part of the quarterly assurance process
• Maintain and improve the finance competency development program and related e-learning material for accounting and reporting
• First point of contact for the group external auditors
• Master’s level degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration
• U.S. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) coupled with a minimum of ten years of experience in technical accounting and financial reporting according to US GAAP and SEC standards
• International work experience obtained in a multinational company in the industrial sector
• Experience in finance project management involving significant change management
• Experience in delivering accounting and reporting trainings according to US GAAP standards
• Fluent in English, other languages such as German and/or an Asian language are an added advantage
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to deliver clear and concise guidance and instructions to subsidiaries, other Group functions and Divisions
• Ability to be diplomatic and yet persistent in the resolution of identified deviations from ABB Accounting & Reporting Guidelines
• Demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships with personnel at all organizational levels and leading a team
• Cultural sensitivity, self-motivated and used to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment
