At the Institute of Pharmaceutical Medicine (ECPM, www.ecpm.ch), located at
the Medical Faculty of the University of Basel, Switzerland, the research group of
Prof Matthias Schwenkglenks conducts quantitative-oriented research projects in
pharmaceutical and health care settings, with a focus on health economic evaluation
(cost-effectiveness analysis), related modelling, health technology assessment
and health services research. To strengthen our team, we are looking
for 1-2 additional research fellows.
Your position
The successful applicants' background and professional experience will allow
them to make relevant contributions to the planning, co-ordination, conduct and
publication of research projects in health economic evaluation, health technology
assessment and related areas of research. One of the positions will strengthen
our longstanding cooperation with the Swiss Group for Clinical Cancer Research
(SAKK) in the field of cancer-related outcomes research. Involvement in academic
teaching can be considered.
Your profile
Applicants should hold a doctoral or master degree in health economics, epidemiology
or another relevant discipline. They should have excellent skills and
hands-on experience in health-economic evaluation (i.e. cost-effectiveness analysis,
decision-analytic modelling and related generation of model input data). Alternatively,
they should have excellent hands-on expertise in systematic reviews,
evidence synthesis and health technology assessment. They should have appropriate
working knowledge of the following fields: medicine, biostatistics, epidemiological
methods, and, ideally, economics. Professional experience in
academic research and with publishing in reputable, international journals with
peer-review is highly desirable. Additional requirements include appropriate communication
skills, ability to work independently, willingness to meet timelines, responsibility
and enthusiasm. Work in our small, dedicated team implies a variety
of responsibilities for all team members. Excellent mastery of English and/or German
is required; very good working knowledge of the other language is required
for at least one of the positions.
