Group Functions IT is a multicultural, dynamic team providing Finance, HR, Legal and Compliance solutions to the Roche & Genentech community worldwide. As part of Informatics Group Legal, you are a member of the team dedicated to eDiscovery & Privacy Operations. As Technical Specialist eDiscovery you will provide expertise and services to identify, preserve, collect, and process electronically stored information for our worldwide litigation matters. This will be done utilizing the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM), ensuring full compliance with legal and regulatory requirements as well as company directives and policies. You will act as a liaison between inside and outside counsel and support them in all aspects regarding the eDiscovery process


Your main responsibilities will be:



  • Act as liaison with in-house / outside counsel, paralegals and eDiscovery vendors regarding technical aspects of eDiscovery

  • Perform eDiscovery operational activities following the EDRM:

    • Coordinate, initiate and facilitate the identification and preservation of data

    • Collect and processing of data

    • Data transfer


  • Keep abreast of current best-practices, emerging technologies and solutions in the context of eDiscovery

  • Follow and actively participate in developing defensible processes and standards for eDiscovery and litigation activities

  • Provide clear direction and advice to IT professionals to ensure that key objectives for eDiscovery and litigation are met

  • Develop and maintain strong and trusting relationships with key stakeholders within both Legal (litigators) and IT and interface with all internal and external parties involved

  • Proactively coordinate within a global team of highly skilled experts in the context of eDiscovery and litigation support activities

  • Report service status & KPIs to key stakeholders in the legal department

  • Proactively contribute to the continuous improvement of the eDiscovery services


For this position, you bring the following qualifications:



  • At least 4-year experience working within the Electronic Discovery Reference model (EDRM) following standard operating procedures

  • Proficiency with at least one of the following solutions:

    • Google Mail / gDrive / Vault

    • Guidance EnCase Enterprise /eDiscovery /Forensic

    • Veritas Clearwell eDiscovery Platform

    • SharePoint eDiscovery methodology

    • Data forensics


  • Familiarity with

    • Legal review platforms (Relativity, etc)

    • Legal Hold management platforms such as Exterro Fusion Platform


  • University degree (or equivalent) in Legal and/ or Informatics

  • Analytical mind-set and structured approach

  • 3+ years of Informatics experience

  • Passion to work in a global, virtual team

  • A highly organized and efficient self-starting attitude being comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision

  • Proven skills in relationship building and customer focus

  • Ability to work under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills

  • Fluency in English (written and oral)
