We are offering a unique opportunity to join our Large Molecule Research (LMR) team in the Roche Innovation Center Zurich. LMR focuses on generation and technical development of therapeutic antibodies and proteins for all Disease Translational Area's (DTA). We pursue bold and smart approaches and offer a competitive edge to Pharma Research and Early Development -pRED- DTAs by integrating expertise in molecule design and excellence in process development. We anticipate the future needs of our DTAs and make sure that we have access to relevant emerging technologies to expand the target space for protein-based therapeutics.  


As a group leader of Molecular Biology within LMR you lead a multinational team dedicated to provide state-of-the-art tools and technologies to support the pre-clinical development of novel antibody-based therapeutic candidates, mainly in the field of oncology. By generation of high quality molecules and tools you facilitate lead identification campaigns, format evaluation and in vivo efficacy assessment of potential new drug candidates.
You continuously evaluate and establish new technologies to further strengthen the team’s technical capabilities to support portfolio projects.
You successfully drive projects across different departments and ensure clearly defined objectives, deliverables, resource requirements are set.
You are a key contributor in our automation and digitalization effort. You stay abreast of emergent technologies and methodologies and provide strategic input to advance our capability in automating our processes.
You effectively collaborate with the Cell Line Engineering Group within our department. You build and maintain close relationships with other entities within Therapeutic Modalities or pRED at different locations (Basel, Munich).


Who are we looking for? 
We are seeking a committed individual who brings:



•    PhD in biology or related field and at least 5 years’ experience in drug discovery. A strong expertise in molecular biology is key
•    Exposure to and interest in processes automation and IT solutions 
•    Prior experience in successfully leading teams and cross-functional activities is highly preferred
•    Knowledge in protein science/antibody and display technologies is a plus
•    Strong communication skills. You express yourself fluently and eloquently. You listen to others and encourage open discussions
•    Fluency in English
