Roche Diagnostics Division has embarked on a journey to benefit from the opportunities of becoming a more data-driven organisation and treat data even more as a major valuable corporate asset. This will be achieved by implementing a Data Strategy and putting in place a new Data Operating and Governance Model. Establishment of a Data Management Office (DMO) will ensure that the strategy is executed.


As Head of Data Management Office, you will be leading the newly created DMO and you will have a crucial role in executing Diagnostics Division’s Data Strategy.


Together with your team, you will lead the definition and set-up of a Roche Diagnostics-wide global data governance and operating model, support and enable Data Leaders (across different data domains), and scout data-related market trends.


The position


In this role, you will be empowered to drive and influence the strategic agenda of Roche Diagnostics’ Data Council (composed of senior leaders), chair the council’s meetings and manage the implementation of its strategic decisions.


Further, you will globally cooperate with Data Leaders and other senior leaders across different functions, business areas and units to shape Roche Diagnostics’ data landscape.


You will be empowered to globally lead an experienced group of data experts across different functions, business areas and units of Roche Diagnostics to define a consistent domain landscape, to shape many leading data initiatives and to ensure cross-domain interoperability and scalability as well as consistency of data standards across the organisation.


Main job accountabilities:



  • Lead the Data Management Office (DMO) team members (Data Management Officers)

  • Define further responsibilities with the DMO and recruit key talent into the function (if needed) to globally scale up data efforts

  • Execute Roche Diagnostics Data Strategy by implement Roche Diagnostics Data Operating and Governance Model

  • Chair and drive and influence global agenda of Data Council and drive implementation of decisions

  • Set Data Leaders for success: Provide support and enablement to Data Leaders (e.g., coaching, facilitation of induction)

  • Co-develop transparent roadmap(s) of data domains (incl. data initiatives) towards an ambitioned design of domain landscape with the Data Leaders.

  • Provide oversight and insight to status of progress within different data domains

  • Be the point of contact for key experts in the Diagnostics organisation (incl. DIA IT) and ensure close collaboration and consistency with Roche Group

  • Coordinate common data topics (e.g., GDPR, privacy, legal) across data domains and put in place enablers

  • Set-up and own global roll-out of data governance tooling to support data transparency and quality

  • Engage in change management activities within the organisation

  • Drive communication activities and stakeholder management for DMO

  • Discover and follow market trends (e.g., scout trends on data standards, ecosystems)


Requirements:


To be successful we believe you will need 15+ years of experience with global data strategy development and execution (incl. data architecture design and implementation)



  • Experience in working with senior leaders across a global organisation

  • Experience in global team management, passionate about coaching and developing team members

  • Proven experience designing (agile/ design thinking) and building enterprise-wide data platforms and working with technology ecosystem providers to create partnership models to scale platforms

  • Demonstrated ability working across functions and units in an international organisation, strong stakeholder management and change management skills.

  • Ability to learn new concepts and tools.

  • Outstanding problem-solving and excellent communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills and consultative and strategic mindset

  • Solution-focused and strong collaborative mindset

  • Ability to handle ambiguity, to manage organisational complexity and to take decisions in a fast-paced environment

  • Proficiency in English

  • Ability to travel (up to 50%)


Competencies:



  • Experience in leading complex global projects

  • Strong and proven skills to successfully communicate and interact with senior executives

  • Previous experience with big data processing systems (such as Hadoop, Hive, Cassandra, Play, Mesos, Spark/ Storm, Kafka/ ElasticSearch)

  • Domain knowledge of the following

  • Data interoperability, standards and methods

  • Micro-Services Architecture

  • Strong in Data modelling and ETL best practices

  • Domain-Driven Design

  • Experience in data modelling for modern systems and distributed application architectures and data migration is a plus

  • Experience with data governance tools (e.g., data lineage, data catalogue, glossaries, etc.)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate analysis, concepts and ideas into convincing communication

  • Highly result oriented with proven ability to work against aggressive timelines
