The Institute of Natural Resource Science is located on an attractive campus on the left shore of the Lake of Zurich in Wädenswil. The working group «Fish Welfare» is part of the research group «Aquaculture Systems» and is looking for a
Scientific Researcher for Fish Biology (80 %)to start on 1 May 2019 or upon agreement for a 24-month period.
In this position you will have the opportunity to greatly expand your competences and apply your knowledge and creativity by:
Contributing to the main project about the development of new techniques to assess fish welfare
Participating in the teaching and supervision of bachelor- and master students with emphasize on the research areas «aquaculture» and «fish physiology»
Planning and organizing research projects and acquisition of new projects within the already present research profile of the working group
Writing research reports and publishing in relevant scientific journals
As an ideal candidate, you have completed or will complete a PhD degree in the field of Fish Biology, Molecular Biology, Aquaculture or Fisheries. You have accumulated a deep understanding of statistical data analyses, have experience in project management and handling of fish in scientific experiments and master several methods and techniques to analyze the nutritional well-being and stress levels of animals. As our new group member, you should also have a strong motivation for writing publications and willingness to work with industrial partners and in new and innovative research fields. You must be fluent in English and basic skills in German are an advantage.
