Guild Owner of Group IT Architecture

The inclusion of IT and technology will in future be even more decisive for the business success of Baloise and is therefore of high strategic relevance. In order to do justice to this development, the Baloise Group is expanding its existing Group structure in the first quarter of 2019 with a newly created corporate division, Group IT. The Group IT Architecture team will be an important component in this new corporate division. It will be responsible for the development of IT landscapes focusing on the harmonisation of cross-functional skills between the different Baloise business units. 


In your function as Guild Owner, Group IT Architecture, you will be responsible for the strategic focus of the architecture discipline at Group level. You will take the lead within your discipline in a cross-border matrix organisation. You will identify the architectural planning requirements by aligning them with both the project portfolios and the business strategies. To that end, you will analyse the current situation and define overriding goals for the architectural landscape. In collaboration with the interdisciplinary work groups, you will develop architecture-related improvements, pursue a diverse range of technology trends and in doing so promote innovations in the target landscape. 


You will define architectural and technical standards and strategies by means of a cooperative approach. True to the motto “Share your insights”, you will promote the exchange of knowledge between all units and help to foster culture and communication according to agile principles. You will furthermore be responsible for the selection of well-qualified employees and support their further development.

As Guild Owner, Group IT Architecture, you should also bring with you the following:



  • University bachelor’s or master’s degree, preferably in information technology, natural sciences or business/economics or equivalent practical experience

  • At least five years of experience in IT architecture: domain, application, service, infrastructure and security architecture as well as business IT alignment 

  • At least five years of experience in an enterprise architecture management role (EAM) 

  • We expect you to have management and leadership experience at a corporate level

  • Fluent German and English
