Senior Mechanical Design Engineer 100% (m/f)
Your responsibilities
The R&D team in Medela is responsible for product development activities from early concept all the way to commercialized products. This role will be focused on mechanical design and systems engineering activities of breastfeeding products. "User centered design" and "agile product development" are amongst your capabilities and will allow you to translate requirements of different stakeholders into technical specification, perform early feasibility evaluation and deliver superior design implementations. You will execute feasibility analyses, calculations, simulations and will make use of common design methods to develop solution in compliance with the specified requirements, deadlines, costs and quality. You streamline findings from tests, scientific analyses as well as outcome of design-, risk- or project review meetings conducted under your lead into product design improvements. You are ensuring compliance with applicable standards and Medela processes, are involved in verification- / validation activities and are creating project documentation. As senior engineer you facilitate the technical exchange, the transfer of specialist knowledge and the application of sophisticated engineering methods within the product development team and stand as coach and technical consultant for complex decisions and solution finding processes.
Your qualifications
Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline
Minimum 15 years of product development experience of devices, instruments or electromechanical assemblies including at least 5 years within a regulated (e.g. medical device) industry
Experienced with plastic fabrication techniques (molding, thermoforming, etc.)
Demonstrated ability to engineer solutions to complex multidisciplinary Problems
Ability to prioritize tasks and balance individual stakeholders with coordination of activities across multiple sites, organizations and disciplines
Familiarity with 3D modeling and simulation programs (CAD Pro-E Creo, PLM Agile, Ansys CADFEM)
Strong written and verbal English communication skills, capable of clearly expressing technical concepts to people with various levels of technical expertise
