Leads, represents and supports device/concept development projects or initiates new platform developments in line with Novartis TRD New Technology needs and strategy. Lead technical development projects of innovative parenteral, connected and digital delivery systems, such as e.g. injectors, within the new technology group specializing on technical early phase concept and feasibility developments. Provide technical expertise in DD&C for device connectivity options for such internal delivery systems. Supports projects and the organization in identifying and evaluating emerging delivery technologies for biologicals.



Major accountabilities:

1. Perform technology scouting and evaluation of innovative delivery system approaches.

2. Foster and collect knowledge in the areas of new delivery systems, materials

3. Contribute to the innovation strategy of DD&C by helping to enlarge Novartis IP port-folio for new delivery technologies.

4. Assess external Intellectual Property from a technical perspective from both a technical as well as a strategic point of view for innovative delivery solutions.

5. Develop and improve innovative packaging and device concepts to support early phase developments.

6. Conduct design analyses.

7. Design technical drawings and prototype models of innovative delivery technologies.

8. Accountable for technical evaluation project definition, manage and communicate new technology opportunities.

9. Interact/collaborate with other functions in DD&C to facilitate innovation and new technology options.

10. Conduct technical planning for feasibility studies of innovative projects and support the transition to design development phases.

11. Lead the collaboration with external development/feasibility partners, monitor work progress according to plan.

12. Leads, represents and manages NT internal cross-functional concept developments or early device project teams and transitioning such programs to a design development phase.

13. Set technical objectives and priorities for technologies and supports team members with technical strategic focus, quality awareness, scientific and technical expertise.

14. Represent the concept evaluation teams in device related discussion, win commitment and obtain endorsement for the strategy within the department.

15. Formulate and deliver on a scientifically and technically sound and business driven DD&C technology strategy.

16. Ensure suitable composition of the New Technology Device/Concept Development team to lead assigned technology evaluations in cooperation with DD&C line functions.

17. Assess, consolidate and negotiate on an on-going basis within DD&C all internal and external resource needs as well as timelines for assigned new technology evaluations.

Minimum requirementsEducation:

Relevant degree (Bachelor/Master)in Engineering and/or Life science



Language:

Fluency in English

Proficiency in German and/or French advantageous



Experience:

• 3-5 years of experience with drug delivery devices.

• Broad and in depth technical knowledge of parenteral drug delivery devices and innovative digital and connected concepts.

• Thorough and proven knowledge international device regulations including SaMD

• Excellent track record of innovation, creativity, problem solving and productivity in projects.

• Basic project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage projects, delivering objectives on time and within budget.

• Profound understanding of DD&C internal cross-functional development processes.

• Good leadership skills, esp. in a matrix setting.

• Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively in a highly international and diverse setting.
