Job Description Summary

Job Summary

We are looking for the Head of Regional Competence Center Application Services EMEA based in Basel or Visp who reports to the Global Head of IT Application Services.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Lonza and to lead the regional Competence Center for IT Application Services, a team of 5 direct reports and 35-40 indirect reports, including planning and budgeting responsibility. To act as key contact for regional stakeholders in terms of all IT Business Applications related matters. To enforce in the relevant region standardization, harmonization, documentation, implementation and deployment of IT Business Applications.

The Opportunity

• Head the regional IT Application Services teams. Oversee departmental finances, including budgeting and forecasting. Ensuring tactical capacity planning. Coach the supervised team leads on a regular basis. Responsible for staff related activities such as recruitment, development, replacement, performance qualification and salary review. Monitor and continuously improve the performance of the assigned teams.


• Identify the IT needs in the region. Define together with regional business managers the yearly IT priorities. Represent the regional IT service in the global IT committee. Responsible for regional project portfolio management. Act as IT escalation instance for regional business managers.


• Accountable for the implementation of new and rollout of existing IT business applications, for the resource planning and staffing of IT projects, as steering group member in major IT initiatives, for knowhow transfer into the 1st and 2nd level support organization as well as the availability of resources for 3rd level subject matter expert support.


• Collaborate with IT Vendor and Service Management to source external services. Define services levels for externally sourced business applications services.


• Responsible together with the Heads of the other regions to define, document, develop and train of the IT business applications deployment approach.

Who you are

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science or similar


• 10 years of experiences in area of IT, including strong SAP background as internal or external consultant


• 5 – 10 years of experiences in a leadership position, leadership personality


• Excellent business process understanding and a service mindset


• Ability to foresee possible issues and troubleshoot them proactively


• Ability to negotiate externally and internally at higher levels


• Willing and able to try new and innovative ways of solving problems


• Develops good short and long term plans


• Excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills


• Personality with drive and agility, open and key driver for changes


• Analytical Skills


• Fluent English language skills, German language skills a plus
