The Position
The Business Area Centralised & Point of Care Solutions establishes a new R&D team to develop the next generation of highly innovative and patient oriented Lab Hematology IVD systems for Central Lab solutions at site Rotkreuz.
In the role of the Principal Hardware Engineer in fluid dynamics, you are accountable to assess and develop new technologies regarding liquid handling solutions for IVD product development. You are responsible to evaluate cost efficient and reliable concepts which fulfil the system needs and assist the product development team to take into consideration all liquid handling aspects. With your deep knowledge in fluid dynamics including experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and your ability to consider a whole system approach you contribute significantly to the success of the future Centralised & Point of Care Solutions portfolio.
In the advertised position:
● You generate innovative concepts, perform feasibilities and lead the technical implementation for liquid handling solutions in the context of IVD product development
● You analyze and assess new technologies, technical concepts and implementations making use of your high analytical skills and approach
● You support other engineers in all fluid dynamic and general simulation aspects
● You drive the technical direction of the project and generate novel solutions
● You build up system knowhow and needs and translate them into reliable design
● You ensure cross team technical working practices and standards and act as a reviewer for the product development
● Technical management of external development partners – writing specifications for external developments of system components or units

To be successful in this role:
● You have a M.Sc or PhD in mechanical engineering with focus on fluid dynamics
● You are experienced in using CFD software and techniques to simulate complex fluid flows, including grid generation, simulation and post-processing
● You have high analytical skills and know how to approach challenges systematically
● You are able to take over a significant role in international, cross-functional teams where you are passionate to drive innovation and solutions
● You are interested to gain system knowhow in the field of Hematology and you are able to translate it into innovative solutions
