Strategic Supplier Alliance Manager (m/f)

The Clinical Trials Division (CTD) of Thermo Fisher Scientific is focused on providing end to end clinical trial solutions for our customers. We don’t specialize in any particular therapy – we support them all. Our customers range from small biotech/pharmaceutical start-ups to large pharmaceutical companies who focus on R&D and prefer to outsource supporting services for the execution of clinical trials across the globe.

We have the industry’s largest global footprint of FDA cGMP facilities and regional hubs strategically located around the globe so we can be where our customers need us - we provide the full suite of services in each of those hubs so that we can get the right medication to the right patient on time.

The Strategic Supplier Alliance Manager is primarily responsible for the successful sourcing of Comparator, Co Meditation and likes to drive competitive advantage and extract the best from strategic suppliers, mainly innovators.

Your tasks:



  • Analyze the whole supply base and to strategically develop the global sourcing network (to ensure competitive offers are submitted to the clients) through regular, effective, long term relationship and alliances with strategic suppliers, and involvement of internal stakeholders in supplier meetings to discuss performance, opportunities and the future

  • Solve the (first) supply challenges, primarily with innovators

  • Put in place, with the support of the Sourcing Specialists and FCS Legal, supply agreements, primarily with innovators to ensure supply continuity & obtain better commercial terms

  • Must ensure that the services provided are delivered on time and to the Fisher standards of quality and compliance

  • Requested from time to time to take a deputy function of other Global Sourcing team members and managers of the Comparator department and to do some travelling



1. Strategic Sourcing



  • Overall responsibility for the current and future sourcing network, mainly innova-tors/manufacturers

  • Generate new supplier contracts and develop good and long-standing strategic supplier re-lationship with pharmaceutical manufacturers and wholesalers, develop trust with partners over time

  • Negotiate competitive Supply Agreements and / or Purchasing Terms & Conditions, inclu-sive attractive prices and volume / cash discount

  • Perform supplier benchmarking, satisfaction rating and any other analysis, SWOT or other as appropriate together with the Comparator Sourcing team




2. Communication with customers and Project management



  • Support the Comparator PM in their projects and take part in TC and negotiation to ensure closure / win of proposals as needed

  • In case of capacity issue in the Comparator team, take on a deputy function as needed and/or customer project and act as a C-PM function



3. Quality and compliance



  • Apply Good Distribution / Good Manufacturing Principles in all areas of responsibility

  • Product recall, support QA and client in case of product recalls

  • Ensure compliance to all FCS's rules and regulations as much from QA, legal and finance. Support keep them meaningful and adapted to our changing environment



4. Diverse



  • Active part in Practical Process Improvement & Just-Do-It, lean and other improvement pro-jects




Your profile:



  • University degree or equivalent

  • Commercial / Customer Service experience

  • Procurement / Supply Chain experience

  • Strategic thinking

  • Team-player

  • Very good written and verbal communication skills in English, ideally also in German due to the existing supply base

  • Computer literacy
