Zurich University of Applied Sciences ZHAW is one of Switzerland’s largest multidisciplinary universities of applied sciences, with over 13,000 students and 3,000 faculty and staff.
As one of the leading Engineering Faculties in Switzerland, the ZHAW School of Engineering emphasises topics which will be relevant in the future. Our 13 institutes and centres guarantee superior-quality education, research and development with a focus on the areas of energy, mobility, information and health.
The interdisciplinary group of the ZHAW Institute for Sustainable Development (INE) identifies future-oriented topics, estimates the development of technologies and their acceptance as well as their potential for dissemination and impact. It conducts sustainability assessments, identifies the needs and behavior of individuals and develops design principles and strategies for sustainable energy regions and innovative business models.
We are seeking applications of highly motivated candidates to complement the team of the Technology Assessment as aResearch Associate for scientific programming/engineering within a research project in the field of power grid modelling (60 – 80 %)The research and development project deals with novel methods for resilience and efficiency assessments of sustainable power grids. Your areas of responsibility will include:
participation and sub-project management in the above-mentioned R&D project
development and implementation of solutions to assess power grids by system audits purposes and to design stochastic models associated with grid performance and resilience
implementation of project prototypes and models
participate in transferring research results to industry
publication of project results in scientific journals and presenting at conferences
The ideal candidate has completed his/her studies (University of Applied Sciences/Bachelor, University/Master) in electrical engineering or in a related field (e.g., physics, computer science). The candidate has also a good knowledge of programming and software engineering. Interest in research and new technologies in the field of power grid modelling and simulation is looked for.
