Your mission :
The UNIL–EPFL Center in Digital Humanities is seeking a team-oriented Academic Community Manager to help foster a vibrant community of researchers of in the field of Digital Humanities and Social Sciences Regular tasks will include
organizing ad-hoc education workshops, training and research working groups and other appropriate social events in collaboration with members of the EPFL–UNIL community including, faculty, students, research engineers and technical staff, and other research personnel and support units from across the two institutions.
engage in supporting the organization of these regular workshops, working groups, meets up and or hackathon by taking care of all the logistical dimensions (booking room, agenda, maintaining a rooster of trainers, attendance tracking, note-taking, reporting, etc…) and by being in touch with stakeholders to identify the changing needs across the two institutions.
Skills
The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of scholarship in the social sciences, humanities and particularly with social science and humanities data and tools ecosystem. S/he will consult and collaborate with faculty and students on research projects to identify and inventory needs ad hoc education workshops and training and research working groups. That candidate should have both a broad and deep understanding of current state of the art in humanities and social science research methods, emerging tools and an interest for community building and dissemination of knowledge
Main duties and responsibilities include :
Keep user community lively and act as the first level contact for students and early career researchers
In collaboration with the CHD and other stakeholder across the UNIL and EPFL Campuses, define most relevant model of events for each community of stakeholders
Organize workshops to keep DH community up to date with latest theoretical and technological developments
Your profile :
Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree plus four years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience. Other Relevant Education May Include: an advanced degree in the social sciences or a related area is highly desirable
Expertise in developing ad hoc education modules, in teaching and research in the field of Digital Humanities and or Data sciences applied to social sciences data
Experience with delivering results in a networked environment
Excellent technical, communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to interact effectively and tactfully with members of the academic community; demonstrated experience working in an environment with colleagues of diverse backgrounds and customs
Demonstrated expertise with instructional design methodologies, pedagogical issues, and best practices in development of research project
Familiarity with open science and Open data practices
Excellent time management and project management skills. Demonstrated ability to manage a complex workload, prioritize tasks, and use good judgment in providing services based on goals.
Demonstrated experience developing and delivering technical training to a non-technical audience
Excellent customer service skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to build strong working relations with a diverse audience of faculty, staff, and students

The Community Manager will be based at the UNIL–EPFL Center in Digital Humanities (CHD), where s/he will be engaged in developing a distinguished and recognized team of researchers with expertise in the epistemological, technological, and ethical dimensions of computational social sciences and digital humanities, whose activities support research for the UNIL and EPFL communities. CHD collaborates both with individual faculty and with centers, departments, and institutes engaged in digital scholarship, particularly in the social sciences and digital humanities. CHD is also a hub for collaboration and communication among social science and digital humanities scholars, library curators, and professional developers, promoting a sense of shared purpose in support of the EPFL and UNIL missions of research and teaching Start date :
