Relationship Manager / Business Developer - Junior (EPFL Extension School / 80-100%)
Your mission :
We are looking for junior-level Relationship Manager/Business Developer to support the ongoing growth of the EPFL Extension School as we continue to expand our reach and impact. This is an extremely hands-on role, initially focused on B2B outreach in Swiss Romande and the region. We are part of the EPFL but we are also essentially a start-up, and our business development efforts must reflect a consistently agile approach.The ideal candidate knows the region and its major corporate, government and other entities well, speaks fluent English and French and has some previous professional experience working for a Swiss or Swiss-based large company or PME. Main duties and responsibilities include :
Maintain an active presence and prospect for leads at events, trade shows, conferences, etc.
Identify local, regional and national target companies and other entities (associations, government entities, NGOs) with clear, expressed needs to re-skill or up-skill their employees
Identify individual leads within target companies; initiate outreach to individual leads; contact and conduct initial follow-ups with leads after outreach
Coordinate and prepare presentations and relevant marketing materials and set pitch appointments for the management team
Act as primary point of contact for potential, current and future enterprise partners, responsible for support, answering reporting and billing questions, and other administrative aspects
Work with Learner Experience Managers to ensure delivery of first class service for enterprise and other partners
Contribute to the identification & development of relationships with key partners to expand our reach and/or lower our cost-per-acquisition
Search for and stay abreast of new opportunities: strategic initiatives within companies, government programs (SEFRI and others), calls for proposal, etc.
Identify opportunities for value-added services to add to our product road map
Update all prospecting/leads activity in CRM on timely basis; provide status reports to management; track ROI on all business development activities
Provide feedback from market to marketing and communications teams
Represent the EPFL Extension School at local, national and regional events
Your profile :
Professional fluency in English and French (Swiss German a plus)
Previous business development, relationship management, fundraising or similar, high-touch, client-facing, high-service experience
Knowledge of the Swiss large enterprise and PME market (main players, main industries, main trade associations, etc.);
Excellent communications and relationship management / « people » skills
Excellent verbal presentation skills
Strong organisational skills
Good team player
A curious mind-set: you like to ask questions and to learn
Motivated self-starter, capable of autonomous work
Experience using Salesforce or similar CRM
Start-up experience a plus
