The successful candidate will work both at Empa and the ETH Institute of Environmental Engineering.

Postdoc position 100% - technologies for gaseous pollutants

The Research will be the development of technologies for detection and removal of gaseous pollutants, which play critical roles in environmental protection, safeguarding of human health and societal welfare, and limiting contamination and enhancing production yield in industries. Modern fabrication Technologies and material sciences provide opportunities for fast detection and accurate identification of multicomponent pollutants and highly automated active removal mechanisms. The tasks include the development of accurate, reliable and sensitive detection systems for gaseous pollutants as well as the development of smart adaptive air cleaning systems. The available equipment includes a state-of-the-art GC/MS with the Orbitrap technology for chemical analysis with ultra-high resolution. The candidate is expected to further develop the research in the laboratory and supervise students.


We are looking for suitable candidates with a doctoral degree in environmental engineering, mechanical engineering, material science or related fields with excellent academic records. Interested candidates should have strong research backgrounds and solid independent research ability. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are required.
