Seeking an enthusiastic decentralized technologies developer who helps us to improve the accessibility of the Web3 technology stack to the developer community.

Developer adoption at the Web3 Foundation

The Web3 Foundation nurtures and stewards technologies and applications for the decentralised web. We collaborate with cutting-edge developer teams, researchers and community leaders to strengthen and extend the uses of decentralized technologies; building the future of identity, privacy, financial markets, commerce and more.

Our core project at the moment is Polkadot, a protocol designed to connect blockchains and allow them to interoperate, share security and more. In addition to that, we are supporting the development of a number of technologies that form the Web 3.0 tech stack - such as decentralized messaging, distributed storage or secret management.

Core to fulfilling our mission is to make Web3 technology stack accessible to developers and to make it easy for projects and individuals with great ideas to build on our platform. Even the best protocols only become useful once developers know them and can build on them.

You will be instrumental in uncovering the needs of developers and project and ensuring that they are met; through creating communication material or initiating further developments in collaboration with our team and our cutting-edge development partners, as well as through direct engagement of developers in hackathons, meetups, conferences etc. Furthermore you will build applications that use and showcase the Web3 stack.

We hire at various levels of experience so feel free to apply even if you don't fulfil all the requirements yet. We are a lean team with a very flat organisation. This position is based in Zug, Switzerland, but for exceptional candidates remote-working can be considered.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Build demo applications that use and showcase the Web3 stack


• Foster and nurture close relationships with the developer community, gaining an understanding for the needs of different groups


• Create documentation such as blog posts, tutorials and videos to teach developers how to build on the Web3 stack


• Collaborate with team members and partners on building communication that inform about, educate on and build enthusiasm around the technologies in the Web3 tech stack


• Devise and own the vision and strategy for growing and inspiring our developer community as well as researchers, Web3 enthusiasts and general contributors


• Evangelize about the decentralized technologies we support to our development partners and throughout the wider Web3 community


• Investigate and identify new technologies and capabilities that will enhance the Web3 tech stack

REQUIREMENTS

• Be a committed proponent of decentralized technologies


• Experience presenting at technology conferences, blogging or writing relevant technical articles with an existing follower base


• Experience contributing to open source projects and demonstrated familiarity with open source communities


• BSc or MSc in Engineering, Computer Science or related field

A PLUS

• Demonstrated ability to build developer communities and to grow a technical audience


• Experience and proficiency in programming, e.g. in Rust, JavaScript, C, C++


• Knowledge and understanding of blockchain technologies and applications


• Several years of work experience as a developer
