Optical Design Engineer (f/m)

The main tasks cover the following key points:

• Elaborate complex optical concepts, lens designs, analyze tolerances and stray light


• Working with system architects defining requirements


• Understand and quantify how optical design impacts system level metrics like: signal to noise, manufacturing constraints and costs


• Elaborate technical documentation such as verification test plans and reports for visible and infrared wavelengths (SWIR and LWIR)


• Validate designs through proof of concepts, modelling and simulation, prototypes and tests including lab measurements


• Working with process design team to develop manufacturing processes


• Life cycle management support

Your qualifications:

• Master or degree in Physics or Engineering or PhD or equivalent experience


• Proven track record of professional experience (3 to 5 years) in optics design and simulation of complex optical systems


• Profound experience with Zemax, CodeV and/or other optic design tools


• Experience in specifying and/or designing thin-film optical coatings


• Analytical and solution-oriented approach with structured problem solving capabilities


• Working proficiency in international cross functional teams and strong communication skills in verbal and written German and English (French would be a plus)
