The Senior Global Product Safety Engineer (m/f) will build up the global product safety engineering system & organization in order to ensure personnel and environmental hazards are mitigated to a safe level throughout the entire product life cycle. In this highly visible role, the Senior Global Product Safety Engineer will interface regularly with Engineering leadership and adjacent functions.
Essential Responsibilities:
In the role of Product Safety Engineer you will
Possess, or quickly attain, essential product knowledge of product lines
Manage the Product Safety team across the GE Additive Product Lines and Services as required
Drive the global strategy for Product Safety driving consistent quality, competitiveness, and operational excellence at global level
Drive the integration of Product Safety Engineering processes across all additive technologies and sites as required, including management of interface with adjacent functions
Strengthen the implementation of Product Safety Program Plans, product safety review, data recording and record retention processes, and residual risk assessments
Define with the Product Line Leaders the need of launching proactive product safety reviews in support of both new product introduction and existing product fulfillment activities according to GE Additive Internal Procedures
Coordinate the investigation of field safety incidents and root cause analysis by working with cross-functional teams
Lead the design team to identify and assess risk mitigation measures that assure tolerable risk level is achieved
Ensure all aspects of product safety are addressed within the constraints of operational effectiveness, time and cost throughout the product life cycle
Provide Leadership and technical direction for assigned projects including establishing project plans, resources and work to identify critical paths with risk mitigation plans to ensure successful execution of projects
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Safety, or Industrial Engineering
Profound working experience in project management in Machine Tools or Industrial Equipment
Experience in leading product safety risk assessments and product liability risk assessment
Knowledge of global industry safety codes, standards / regulations
Strong knowledge of European Regulations (Machinery, PED, ATEX, LVD, EMC)
Ability and willingness to travel globally as required
Fluency in English

Knowledge of Performance Level (ISO13849)
Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt (GE employees only)
German knowledge or willingness to learn
