iptiQ EMEA Property & Casualty is a newly built unit within Swiss Re Life Capital, established to deliver digital-native and creative solutions for Property & Casualty (P&C) clients and partners across Europe that engage with consumers in non-traditional ways.


 


About the role


As a Site Reliability Engineer - DevOps you will have an unusual and outstanding opportunity to join us: a diverse and motivated team, committed to delivering value and creative services together with our clients and partners in the primary insurance space.


 


Responsibilities


You will work closely in multi-functional teams to shape the technology platform and delivery model that fulfill our business and product vision and ultimately bring value to our customers and partners by disrupting the traditional insurance proposition.


 


This will require seeking complex problems within a high-traffic distributed infrastructure by designing, implementing and testing highly automated solutions for deployment and service orchestration to guarantee the level of scalability, reliability and performance expected from customer-facing applications.


 


This will include:



  • End-to-end engagement, from inception to production, in designing, deploying, operating and continuously improving high-availability services in the cloud

  • Deliver high-quality solutions and deployment strategies, focusing on reliability, automation, maintainability and security in order to improve performance and fault-tolerance of new or existing services

  • Own the development of a highly automated continuous delivery platform, ranging from development infrastructure tooling to reduce operational tasks to automated testing capabilities to reliable release and deployment strategies

  • Run production system alongside other engineering teams, focusing on devising automatic metrics and logs collection, self-healing capabilities and other technical solutions to improve security and resilience of the infrastructure and avoiding incidents and problems from reoccurring

  • Supply in incidents resolution and root cause investigation within postmortems establishing a culture of teamwork between teams

About you



  • 6+ years of significant hands-on experience implementing deployment/releasing tooling, monitoring and alerting dashboards in a DevOps or software engineering role for a large-scale, customer-facing micro services infrastructure, possibly in different technologies stacks

  • You understand the thread-offs of different solutions and apply standard methodologies with regards to performance, reliability, availability and security of high-availability concurrent infrastructures

  • Proven experience with cloud computing platforms (particularly AWS), applications containerization/orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, Istio), configuration management (Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet) and implementing continuous development, delivery and deployment solutions (GIT, Gradle, Bazel/Pants/Buck, Jenkins, GoCD, TeamCity, Spinnaker ...)

  • Shown software development capabilities in any modern language (Python, Go, Java, Kotlin, Scala, C++, C#, Ruby …) and advanced bash scripting.

  • Strong problem-solving mindset and reciprocal approach to troubleshooting distributed architectures and incidents mitigation, triage, resolution

  • Experience working in Agile environment using Scrum/Kanban/TDD

  • Great team player: you collaborate effectively with team members, express technical leadership arguing your views and ideas while keeping open to different opinions, being fearless and always contributing to the overall growth of the team

  • Avid learner who stays up-to-date with the latest trends and can vet with pragmatism and long term vision the adoption of new technologies

  • Master’s or PhD degree in computer science, engineering or equivalent working experience

  • Ability to speak and write English fluently
