Why we are recruiting: The Forum Foundations comprise of three communities that form a diverse network of dynamic leaders, ranging from young community changemakers to established social entrepreneurs. The Global Shapers Community comprises 7,000 young people aged 20-30, organized into 420 city-based Hubs in 170 countries and territories. The purpose of these Hubs is to create impact locally, with over 1,000 projects executed around the world to date. Together, the Shapers are a powerful source of grass-roots knowledge and global youth perspectives. The Forum of Young Global Leaders (YGL) is a community of over 900 leaders under the age of 40. Coming from business, politics, academia, the media, the arts and the non-profit sectors in over 100 countries, they work together to shape a better future. Over 30 YGL initiatives benefit more than 30 million people each year. The Schwab Foundation community comprises over 320 social enterprises that operate in more than 70 countries and tackle the world’s most pressing issues with market-based solutions. The Foundation provides global exposure to the world’s most promising social enterprise models and facilitates wider adoption and scaling. To join the Forum Foundations team, we are seeking a Design Lead who will lead the training and implementation of forward-thinking design and best practices for the team and towards our community events. Reporting Lines & Interactions: The Design Lead will report to Shareena Hatta, Head of the YGL Alumni Community & Programming. This role is 50% and based in Geneva. Internally, this person will work with colleagues in the Forum Foundations team across all three communities. Main responsibilities: Design Lead
Help the team inculcate an outcomes-driven philosophy towards events
Guide the event core teams in designing the programme for upcoming events
Assist as part of the delivery team for certain flagship events
Lead the process facilitation as needed
Training
Develop, in consultation with the team, an ongoing event training programme for the team to build knowledge and process expertise
Lead the quarterly design & training sessions
Ensure the team is exposed to best practices in programme design and event execution
The successful candidate will be assessed on:
Successfully embedding team members' philosophy towards events
Delivery of event training programme for the team
Preferred requirements and experience:
Proven track record of managing high level events and relationships
Ability to manage complex, cross-team projects and to work efficiently and effectively across multiple priorities
Broad intellectual background with a Master’s degree (or equivalent)
Proficiency in MS Office/Excel/PowerPoint and Salesforce
Native-level proficiency in spoken and written English; other languages an asset
Enthusiastic team-player and self-starter, who enjoys working in a highly dynamic setting and is comfortable working independently
