Abteilungsbeschreibung / Description of UZH unit

The IMCR is part of the Faculty of Medicine, as well as the Faculty of Science, of the University of
Zurich. It is situated on the main Irchel Campus and is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities.
Moreover, IMCR employees have full access to the central facilities of the University and the ETH.
The IMCR currently employs about eighty staff from many different parts of the world, active in
several areas of DNA repair and cancer biology. General information about IMCR, as well as more

Aufgabenbereich / Responsibilities

The Institute of Molecular Cancer Research of the University of Zurich is looking to fill the post of a Technical Assistant to work on projects focused on the DNA damage response and DNA replication in the context of
genome instability and cancer. This position is linked to the group of the Assistant Professor
Lorenza Penengo.

Anforderungen / Qualifications

We are seeking for a highly motivated and fast learning person, able to work in a team and to
contribute to many different methods and research lines. Besides direct involvement in multiple
research projects (ca. 60%), the job includes lab management (20-30%; orders, stocks,
organization) and general duties for the Institute (10-20%).
The successful candidate will be a young, flexible and independent technician, with strong
organizational skills and a good sense of leadership. A solid training in cell culture, biochemistry
and molecular biology techniques is required. Two or more years’ experience in assisting
technically multiple projects is strongly preferred. A good knowledge of both German and English
languages is strictly necessary. In light of the strong emphasis on technical assistance, an
academic background (Master/PhD) is not required.
