Description

 

• Trial owner, is responsible for an agreed number of allocated field trials within a geographic area in line with specific technical skills (Responsible for local planning, design, execution and reporting of field trials).


• Contributes to trial planning and design together with project leader and Technical specialist.


• Manages the relationship with farmers and other external and internal partners, manages all elements of on site and external field trials including site location finding or preparation, placement, maintenance, assessment and reporting according to relevant standards.


• Ensures and does assessments, according to protocol requirements and following agreed deadlines


• Generates high quality field trial data and ensure timely delivery according to agreed deadlines.


• Participates and contribute to result and project review meetings when requested.


• Supports and plans proactively the conduct of field trial visits.


• Keeps trial facility including experimental and maintenance equipment in order and running according to Syngenta and other relevant HSES and Quality standards, manages technical and allocated operational activities to ensure full compliance with Syngenta and other relevant HSES and Quality standards.


• Flags and develops innovative ideas for portfolio opportunities and new ways of working.


• Manages and train temporary seasonal staff, including ensuring their compliance with Syngenta and other relevant HSES and Quality standards and delegate part of trialing operations according to needs and available expertise.


• Supports the training and integration of new Syngenta staff.


• Handles and manage experimental and maintenance chemicals according to Syngenta and other relevant HSES and Quality standards.


• Contributes to station budget compliance and other team and company KPI’s.


• Relays on active responsibility onwards the Syngenta Code of Conduct as the cornerstone of our corporate responsibility and which clearly defines the behavioral standards that we expect from our employees and our business partners.

 

Qualifications

 

• Technical knowledge: agronomy, trialing, specific training in Crop Protection trialing, experimental field technics.


• Scientific mindset: applicable in planning, undertaking, innovation, interpreting and reporting of field trials (statistics)


• IT knowledge: Proficiency field trials software, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, self-management IT tools.


• Biological sciences or agriculture graduate or appropriate knowledge and/or experience.


• driving license B, E (car with trailer 3,5 t).


• Understanding of the role in R&D and the potential value of observation, innovation and technical information.


• Knowledge of Syngenta and competitor Seed and CP products - labelled and actual use patterns.


• Knowledge of field trialing methods and techniques


• Knowledge of local agricultural production methods and cropping techniques.


• Good English and German (written and verbal), or other language skills as additional advantage


 


CRITICAL EXPERIENCE


• Agronomic background with a broad experience in cropping technics and machinery use, familiar with agronomic practice “thinking like a grower”


• Experienced in practical agronomic field research and trialing technics, observer “bringing plant potential to life”


• Used to decide and used to manage multifactorial challanges


• Scientific mindset and innovative: applicable in planning, undertaking, interpreting and reporting of field trials


• Excellent communication/inter-personal skills - written, verbal, presentation


• Focused, structured and analytical ways of working


• Best practise in knowledge sharing, teaching


• Excellent skills for cooperation, incl. team work and multi-cultural skills


• Self-motivation and flexibility to organise time and work


• Excellent understanding of the agriculture environment and their challenges


• Familiar with standard IT tools


• Good English and German (written and verbal)
