Description du poste


To find new attractive approaches and treatments for liver failure and Type 1 Diabetes, the candidate will work on a project related to cell encapsulation and transplantation of porcine cells into rodent models of liver failure and diabetes. The person will interact with chemists engineering new types of microcapsules for cell encapsulation.


Further, the person will be involved in the work of a MD-PhD student identifying knew cellular principles in liver regeneration to further develop therapeutic strategies for liver failure.

-          Surgery models in rodents


-          Cell isolation and culture


-          Cell encapsulation


-          Flow cytometry


-          Cell and molecular biology approaches to identify new cellular aspects in liver regeneration

Titre et compétences exigés


We are looking for a motivated young researcher with a PhD in biology, with strong experience in


-          Cellular/molecular biology


-          Cell isolation techniques


-          Developmental biology


Further expected:


-          Interest and ambition to contribute significantly to the xenotransplantation field


-          Working interdisciplinary – collaborating with partners a group of chemists for functionalized


           biomaterials at the EPFL


-          Spoken and written English
