To find new attractive approaches and treatments for liver failure and Type 1 Diabetes, the candidate will work on a project related to cell encapsulation and transplantation of porcine cells into rodent models of liver failure and diabetes. The person will interact with chemists engineering new types of microcapsules for cell encapsulation.
Further, the person will be involved in the work of a MD-PhD student identifying knew cellular principles in liver regeneration to further develop therapeutic strategies for liver failure.
Description of work:
- Surgery models in rodents
- Cell isolation and culture
- Cell encapsulation
- Flow cytometry
- Cell and molecular biology approaches to identify new cellular aspects in liver regeneration
