The United Nations Environment Programme (UN Environment) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. The overall objective of the UN Environment's Economy Division is to encourage decision makers in government, local authorities, industry and finance to develop and adopt policies, strategies, practices and technologies that promote sustainable patterns of consumption and production, make efficient use of natural resources, ensure safe management of chemicals, and contribute to making trade and environment policies mutually supportive. It promotes the development, use and transfer of policies, technologies, economic instruments, managerial practices and other tools that assist in environmentally sound decision making and the building of corresponding activities (www.unep.fr/). The UN Environment Economy Division, in partnership with the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), serves as the joint host of the Green Growth Knowledge Platform (GGKP) initiative (www.greengrowthknowledge.org) on behalf of the GGKP founding organizations (UN Environment, GGGI, the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, and the World Bank). The GGKP is a global network of 60 international organisations, research institutes, and think tanks committed to collaboratively generating, managing and sharing knowledge and data. This post is located in the Economy Division, Green Growth Knowledge Platform, at the Geneva duty station. Under the direct supervision of the Senior Programme Management Officer, Green Growth Knowledge Platform and overall supervision of the Chief of the Resources and Markets Branch, the incumbent will be responsible for the following:
ResponsibilitiesDevelop, implement and manage activities linked to the Green Industry Platform as follows:
•Participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of the “Green Industry Platform”; monitor and analyze the project development and implementation; review relevant documents and reports; identify problems and issues to be addressed and proposes corrective actions; liaise with relevant parties; identify and track follow-up actions.
•Perform consulting assignments, in collaboration with the clients (namely business associations), by planning and facilitating workshops, through other interactive sessions and assisting in developing the action plan the clients will use to manage the change.
•Provide substantive support to consultative and other meetings, conferences, etc., including proposing agenda topics, identifying participants, preparation of documents and presentations, etc.
•Undertake outreach activities; conduct training workshops, seminars, etc.; give presentations on greening industry.
•Contribute to fundraising and coordinate activities related to budget and funding (project preparation and submissions, progress reports and financial statements.) and prepare related documents/reports (pledging, work programme, programme budget, etc.).

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business administration, management, economics or a related field field of study is required. A first level university degree in combination with two additional years of experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. Training with a focus on sustainable business practices is an advantage.
Work ExperienceA minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in project management or a related area out of which at least two years of work experience is focused on supporting or implementing sustainable business practices is required. Experience establishing effective partnerships across private and public sectors organizations is desirable. Experience working with organizations based in developing countries is desirable. Knowledge of the UN system is an advantage.
LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English required. Working knowledge of other UN official language is desirable.
AssessmentEvaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
