Tenured Scientist in the Area of X-ray Imaging and Computed Tomography

The Center for X-ray Analytics develops new X-ray methods in the domain of material analytics, data treatment, 3D visualisation and simulation.


 


This position offers the possibility to do fundamental research and to develop an international scientific profile. In this tenured scientist position you have the possibility to obtain a permanent position after successful evaluations after 2 and 4 years.


Your tasks


You will do R&D in the domain of X-ray imaging, with a focus on phase contrast computed tomography, data analysis, modelling and Monte Carlo simulations. You will write project proposals and help to acquire external funding. Planning and leading scientific projects as well as an ongoing development of methods and equipment are part of this employment. You will present your scientific results through publications and on conferences and you will actively engage with scientific collaborators and industrial partners.


Your profile


You have a university degree with a PhD in physics, applied mathematics or in computational science, bring a deep knowledge in X-ray methods with focus on computed tomography and phase contrast imaging. The application emphasis is defined in the bio-medical domain. Experience in project management, writing publications and giving presentations is compulsory. We are looking for a person who is ambitious to make a scientific career, enjoys writing high-level scientific publications and is fluent in English and German. Knowledge in C/C++ programming and hardware automation with LabVIEW or with other programming languages is preferable. Knowledge in GPU (CUDA) and HPC programming would be beneficial. You like to develop your scientific independence and initiate your own projects, while you are happy to collaborate in a team and contribute to projects in progress.
