A window of opportunity awaits you at Sandvik, we have a full time opening for a Payroll Lead at our Mississauga head office. The scope of responsibility for this role is national and will be responsible for legislative and regulatory compliance with respect to Payroll.


Key Performance Areas:



  • Accountable for high quality of data integrity in payroll and services

  • Completing multi-provincial payroll (BC, AB, SK, YK, MB, NWT, ON, PQ, NB) including hourly and salary paid employees on a bi-weekly schedule

  • Full cycle payroll including year end processing

  • Maintain up-to-date payroll data with high level of accuracy, confidentiality and attention to detail

  • Ensure compliance with required withholdings and deductions including taxes and garnishments

  • Reconcile and correct discrepancies


Responsibilities in the Role:



  • Process the company’s bi-weekly payrolls ensuring tax and legal compliance and adherence to company policies

  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of all payroll documents through Ceridian Latitude HPL including new employee setup and maintenance

  • Monitor PeopleSoft daily reports to ensure all relevant data is entered in the payroll system

  • Reconcile payroll employee data to PeopleSoft database information monthly

  • Reconcile source / payroll deductions to remittances. Investigate discrepancies and process adjustments

  • Prepare all bi-weekly payroll journal entries

  • Process employee termination payments, deductions and ROEs

  • Respond to all internal and external information requests respecting all payroll related matters

  • Calculate and remit worker’s compensation premiums and provincial health tax premiums

  • Process payroll year end including year- end adjustments and year end filings to all federal and provincial agencies and production of T4’s, Releve 1’s, T4-A’s

  • Support and accurately enter individual / annual salary changes, bonus payments and annual short term incentive payouts

  • Support and partner with company auditor for annual payroll audit

  • Ensure accurate deductions and payments for employees on leave of absence

  • Respond to general inquiries and create regular reports related to HR and payroll as required


Requirements Include:



  • Completed post-secondary diploma or certificate in payroll, Human Resources or Business Administration

  • Minimum 5 years of experience and full competency to manage multi-province full cycle payroll

  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience using Ceridian Payroll application including year-end processing, Ceridian HPL payroll experience strongly preferred.

  • CPM - ceritfied payroll manager from Canadian Payroll Association

  • Knowledge of provincial employment standards and legislation related to Canadian benefits, pensions and payroll practices

  • MS Excel experience including creating and maintaining workbooks and ability to utilize pivot tables

  • Proven ability to complete the payroll function with high level of accuracy
