We're looking for a Technical Lead Developer to join us in Zurich.

The Lead Developer has the responsibility for running a team of developers and setting the technical direction of the deliveries. The role will apply the principles and methodologies of software engineering to the technical design, development, testing, and maintenance of applications and services. The role will have a significant technical breadth, strong knowledge of their business domain and be able to work with senior business and technical stakeholder to devise appropriate plans for achieving the required goals.

What you'll do

You'll be leading the technical delivery of the software engineering in Open Banking providing solution design options to key stakeholders for appropriate decision making. while ensuring alignment with bank wide, Domain and Platform Architectural Principles. You'll monitoring the technical progress against plans while safeguarding functionality, scalability and performance keep stakeholders in the loop.

You'll also be

• Drives the adoption of software engineering principles, processes and best practices


• Drives a culture of concise and comprehensive technical documentation as a continuous process


• Liaises with engineers, architects, business analysts and other key stakeholders to understand the objectives, requirements and options


• Supports defining the technical strategy and advises on product roadmaps and migration plans to achieve strategic goals


• Designs and develop software and APIs that are meet the need for greater automation of build, release testing and deployment process on all environments


• Working with API Management team to assess the architectural impact on our Core Banking Platform


• Partnering with Stakeholders to ensure the API platform architecture and roadmaps are defined and embedded

The skills you'll need

You'll need to have a demonstrable development experience in Java and other programming language and a good working knowledge of a scripting language such as Python, JavaScript, etc., you’re familiar with the software delivery lifecycle with agile methods, have expert know how with JavaScript, SOAP/REST, Swagger/RAML, XML, JSON and are up to date with current technologies in the area of API’s. ability to rapidly and effectively understand and translate product and business requirements into technical solutions

You'll also need

• experience of working in an environment where products have to be delivered to specific timescales in an agile method


• experience designing or implementing HTTP, ReSTful web services and API design is a plus


• Familiarity with databases particularly PL/SQL


• a Knowledge of PSD2, SCA and the UK Open Banking Standard is a plus


• Experience with development of OpenID Connect and OAuth applications


• Experience with Kubernetes is a plus


• Comply with Our Code, all RBS Group policies, the Three Lines of Defence principles, the RBS Group Recovery Plan, ‘Our Governance’ (the RBS Group governance and controls document) and deliver against all relevant statutory, regulatory, supervisory and legal obligations, escalating concerns where appropriate
