For the Analytical Chemistry Research Group of the Environmental Chemistry Laboratory we are looking for a  


PhD Student


Reconstructing historic and modern anthropogenic SU heavy metal pollution

Your tasks



  • Chemical analysis of trace elements in ice cores from the Siberian and Mongolian Altai using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS)

  • Analyses and interpretation of results, time series analyses, comparison with emission estimates and historical data

  • Collaboration with research Groups in Belarus and Russia

  • Publication of results in scientific journals and presentation at international conferences


Your profile



  • Master degree in chemistry or natural/environmental sciences with a strong background in analytical chemistry

  • Experience and strong interest in experimental and analytical work

  • Experience in mass spectrometry and environmental research beneficial

  • Good communication and writing skills in English are required

  • Willingness to work in an interdisciplinary team
