As a Flights Solutions Engineer, you'll work closely with our partners, gain deep technical knowledge of the airline industry and of schedules, pricing, availability and fares.


Flights Solutions Engineers (FSEs) within the Flights team help drive the strategy for supporting our most strategic airline partners. As part of the team, you will leverage both your technical and interpersonal skills to find the best ways to balance business needs with technical constraints to develop the right solutions for our airline partners. You'll lead implementation reviews, develop solutions for customers, champion new product features and help define the strategic partner support roadmap for the future.

Responsibilities


  • Develop deep familiarity with the flights industry and domain knowledge. Be the voice for our customers working with engineering to define product requirements.

  • Implement efficient solutions to complex technical challenges for our customers, including design, coding, and deployment.

  • Leverage implementation best practices and standards for Partner solutions. Ensure requirements and solutions are well documented and communicate regularly with stakeholders about status and challenges.

  • Identify opportunities to improve scalability, improve processes, and develop tools and utilities.

  • Build, test, and maintain integration code for Google Flight Search. Troubleshoot challenges with code and integration.


Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:



  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science or a related technical subject or equivalent practical experience.

  • Experience in one or more programming languages, including Java, C++, Python.

  • Experience in working with web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript and HTTP.

  • Ability to speak and write in English fluently and idiomatically.


Preferred qualifications:



  • Experience working in a client-facing technical service environment working with large customers or partners and in navigating business organizations, managing multiple cross-functional stakeholders, and negotiating optimal solutions across all associated parties.

  • Familiarity with SQL/MySQL and Unix/Linux operating systems and commands.

  • Demonstrated ability to adapt your message to the technical level of the audience and comfort presenting technical materials to groups of any size and background.

  • Experience in or passion for the travel and flights industry.

  • Excellent organizational, project management and attention to detail skills.

  • Excellent problem solving, analytical and troubleshooting skills.
