Senior Accountant II, VAT

Looking to join a dynamic team of Accounting professionals and obtain valuable international statutory accounting experience? The International Statutory Reporting team is looking for a Senior II VAT Accountant to join a newly created VAT team focused on supporting Expedia’s Global Lodging business. Expedia’s Global Lodging business brings together travelers and over 750,000 properties and growing. The VAT Manager will be key player on both the Global Lodging business team and on the Global VAT team.

This position is located in Geneva, Switzerland.

What you’ll do:

• Ensure VAT compliance for our Swiss subsidiaries, directly or liaison with external providers - depending on country


• Preparing journal entries and account reconciliations for month-end close journal entries necessary within VAT asset and liability accounts and reviewing of monthly P&L


• Preparing monthly/quarterly VAT payments where appropriate


• Assist in the annual tax compliance such as withholding tax certification and declaration, VAT return


• Assistance with the preparation of information requested by external auditors in respect of accounting and VAT matters per company


• Assist in establishing and documenting new business processes and ensure these processes are communicated across the various business groups


• Ensuring all SOX controls are maintained


• Other ad hoc projects as needed (merge, onboarding new companies, etc)

Who you are:
 

• BA or BS in Accounting required; CPA or Chartered Accountant required


• The candidate must have at least 4+ years of experience; public accounting experience is preferred


• EU and Swiss VAT experience preferred


• Ability to use previous experience to add value and assist in meeting the department's objectives while working in a fast-paced, team oriented, rapidly changing, and high-growth organization


• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, capable of clearly articulating complex processes to audiences with differing levels of understanding


• Experience with Oracle or a similar ERP system
