We are currently seeking a Molecular Biologist (Scientific Specialist) to work on Fungicide resistance. The position will be located within the Fungicide Bioscience organization at our Swiss research centre in Stein.


 


You will help meet the world’s most pressing needs by:


 



  • Supporting the development of novel molecular tools and screening methods for rapid mode of action and mode of resistance discovery

  • Performing high throughput phenotyping screens using novel macroscopic and microscopic imaging capacity


Accountabilities



  • Support rapid discovery  of resistance mechanisms and validation using forward and reverse genetics

  • Generate reporter lines and assays with GM pathogens (fungi)

  • Support the development of improved transformation methodologies

  • Generate random, insertional and targeted mutants libraries through the implementation of novel molecular tools

  • Perform High Content Screens (cellular and subcellular levels) and other image-based phenotyping assays to discover and assess sensitivity towards novel fungicides

 

Qualifications

 

  • The candidate should hold a master degree in biotechnology, molecular biology and / or plant pathology and carry at least 2 years of practical experience within a research lab. Basic expertise with microbes and plant pathogens is a clear plus, proven experience with state of the art molecular biology and cell biology techniques is required (PhD will not be considered).

  • The successful candidate will not only support production of the pathogen but also the establishment of biochemical, molecular and cell biology methodologies for the diagnosis of resistance towards commercial and research fungicides.

  • High motivation, the will to learn, a good team spirit and excellent organizational skills are essential for the role which will also require implementation of good laboratory practices, strong IT skills and tracking of experiments and biomaterials in agreement with HSE, Biosafety and regulatory rules.

  • English is a must, French and/or German a plus.
