The Business Intelligence Developer will be responsible for driving the data analysis, reporting, and automation needs for Expedia’s Strategic Initiatives team. You will be an advisor regarding the design and use of our data marts, helping us build and maintain a robust analytics infrastructure. You will need to be able to work directly with members of the Business and Analytic teams to develop a deep understanding of underlying business processes, lay down the business requirements and propose/implement the appropriate solution. You will need to work with other developers to build, enhance, and maintain end to end applications that use complicated data elements and structures. As an expert in our systems and processes, you will need to be able to provide guidance to various teams to ensure that deliverables exceed expectations. 


Responsibilities:
• Serve as an expert on Expedia’s datamarts/warehouses – with a deep understanding of the architecture and how to map and consolidate information across various sources
• Run ad-hoc reports for financial modeling, business intelligence, and project level data analysis
• Build and maintain business intelligence reports and dashboards
• Administrate reporting databases and delivery systems to support the ongoing reporting operations
• Create monitoring tools to track the quality and performance of solutions
• Work with global teams, including database developers, product managers and business partners to construct appropriate BI framework for projects/programs
• Work with other developers to maintain and enhance our custom-built applications which will encompass both database and user interface modules


Experience and Qualification:
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a developer in a Business Intelligence/data mining/report writing role. Strong foundation in SQL, particularly Business Intelligence and Analytics solutions:
o Strong scripting skills to perform data/file manipulation
o Strong background in Data Warehousing and Business Analytics environment
o Ability to read and interpret data schemas,
o Ability to develop reporting and visualizations
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with Microsoft SQL Server, SQL Server Integration Services(SSIS) and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
• Experience with global cloud technologies (AWS) and data-services (Qubole, Spark)
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in using the Microsoft Office suite with very strong Excel skills including pivots and charts
• You will have experience creating data marts, ETLs, reports and dashboards from scratch
• Excellent problem solving skills with experience identifying and solving data quality issues
• You will be flexible and motivated to work in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English)
• Experience with data mining methodologies and statistical methods
• Ability to logically translate and disseminate analytical insights to non-analytical partners
• Strong emphasis on testing, validating and overall data quality
• A MS/BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field preferred. Additional education in business or statistics a plus


Other Qualifications
• Experience with Dotnet development (MVC, ASP.Net; C#, etc.)
• Experience with web technologies (Javascript; HTML; CSS, etc.)
• Experience with creating APIs and authentications services
• Exposure to project management tools and techniques a plus
• Experience with Web Analytics such as standard Clickstream analysis tools (e.g. Omniture) and Multivariate test software a plus
• Experience with Tableau, SAS, SPSS or similar a plus
• Experience with Hadoop development (big data) a plus
• Travel industry and/or e-Commerce experience a plus
