Director, International Accounting

Looking to join a dynamic team of Accounting professionals and obtain valuable international statutory accounting experience? The International Statutory Reporting team works closely with colleagues in international tax, treasury, and other departments to ensure Expedia Group, Inc.’s subsidiaries remain compliant with foreign financial reporting requirements. Our ideal candidate has a consistent track record of building and leading a team, strong foundation of US GAAP and Swiss accounting and auditing standards and experience working in a fast-paced complex multinational company.

This position is located in Geneva, Switzerland.

What you’ll do:

• Hire, mentor and develop team of eight accounting professionals


• Working cross-functionally with other internal groups and external advisors to ensure statutory compliance for Expedia’s Swiss subsidiaries


• Ensuring VAT compliance for all the countries where the Swiss entities have a presence


• Presenting monthly US GAAP based results compared to Swiss GAAP based results


• Managing external statutory audits, including being the primary liaison with the local and US auditors


• Crafting and implementing processes to ensure new business needs and changes in laws are achieved while ensuring compliance with SOX controls


• Streamline processes and utilization of resources in order to build maximum efficiency


• Other ad hoc projects as needed (merge, onboarding new companies, etc.)

Who you are:

• BA or BS in Accounting required; CPA or Chartered Accountant required


• At least 10+ years of experience; public accounting experience is required


• 5+ years of strong leadership and people management experience, specifically in attracting, developing, and retaining strong talent


• Enjoy building relationships and collaborating in a team environment


• Demonstrated experience to use accounting knowledge and previous experience to add value and assist in meeting the department's objectives while working in a dynamic, team oriented, rapidly changing, and fast-growing organization


• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, capable of clearly articulating complex processes to audiences with differing levels of understanding


• A proven track record of collaborating and delivering results working as part of a cross functional team both in the local office and with the global organization


• Experience with Oracle or a similar ERP system
