We are looking for an outstanding Senior Analyst to join our team and provide data-driven insight that will shape the way we price & promote our hotel products, drive profitable growth, customer value and engagement.
This is a high-profile role responsible for understanding the return of significant marketing investments, directly impacting capital allocation decisions and with exposure to senior leadership.
The position can be based in Geneva (ideally) or London.


Responsibilities:



  • Become a subject matter expert in Pricing

    • Understand economics of different pricing levers across distribution and marketing channels through identification of causal relationships between pricing actions and business outcomes

    • Evaluate impact of pricing on customer behaviour, both short term (price elasticity) and long-term (repeat purchase and lifetime value), across relevant segments

    • Identify opportunities to optimise pricing tactics

    • Design experiments (e.g. multivariate, A/B tests) to validate hypotheses

    • Measure & interpret results, draw conclusions and formulate actionable recommendations to the business

    • Understand underlying processes, information flows and data sources




  • Become a trusted advisor and partner with stakeholders across Expedia group

    • Partner with channel owners and regional leaders to understand business challenges and provide relevant insight and data-driven guidance

    • Participate in cross-functional and cross-divisional pricing-related initiatives across Expedia Group

    • Work with finance function to support forecasting activities and capital allocation decisions

    • Communicate findings in compelling presentations to senior management

    • Propose and investigate new areas of optimisation based on generated insight and understanding of the competitive landscape

    • Contribute to the definition of the Hotels.com and Expedia Group strategy




  • Work together with Analytics, Data Science and Data Engineering teams and use data to drive business impact

    • Own and maintain a set of tools to analyse and optimise pricing activities (R, R Shiny)

    • Build data-driven models, reporting dashboards, cutting-edge visualizations and analyses that incorporate data from multiple parts of the business

    • Explore new sources of insight and design scalable solutions to capture, transform and surface data




  • Own end-to-end multiple projects and stakeholder relationships, across different areas of the business


Qualifications & Experience:



  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience and a strong background (M.Sc. preferred) in a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, physics, engineering, statistics, data science, econometrics or similar

  • Good technical skills and/or ability and willingness to ramp up very quickly: Microsoft Excel,  PowerPoint, SQL (Teradata, Hadoop/Hive, Qubole), BI tools (Tableau, Qlikview), advanced analytics packages (Python, R, Scala, Spark)

  • Stats knowledge a strong plus (hypothesis testing, confidence intervals)

  • Insatiable appetite for making an impact in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment

  • Commercial acumen and desire to learn about and evolve in a business environment

  • Logical and structured thinking, with ability to communicate complex concepts concisely and clearly

  • Comfort in dealing with uncertainty and ambiguity

  • Good interpersonal skills
