Position description


Scheduling & Slot Management (ZRH S/NR) is part of the SWISS Network Management department and is responsible for planning of an optimal flight schedule for both the SWISS and Edelweiss fleet. This core airline function takes into consideration commercial- and operational requirements through successfully balancing optimal productivity with operational stability and profitability aspirations. The position is responsible for all processes in respect of the long-term schedule development, mid-term planning and short-term schedule implementation, ensuring a synchronized and correct publication of flight plans in the relevant systems. Furthermore, the responsibility includes the worldwide management of the SWISS and Edelweiss slot portfolio. As Head of Scheduling & Slot Management, you will have the excellent opportunity to contribute to the successful network development of SWISS and Edelweiss and to take on leadership responsibility for a small team of highly skilled professional experts. Moreover, you take on a key interface role between many commercial- and operational functions, actively driving and collaborating within the relevant processes. You successfully balance and integrate various interests, communicate effectively to all relevant internal and external stakeholders and are capable of managing vast complexity.


Your Duties



  • Planning, execution and steering of seasonal flight schedules (creation, implementation, publication and distribution)

  • Strategic- and operational slot management (e.g. monitoring of slot for utilization and performance)

  • Coordination of slot submission prior to the start of the planning stage per season

  • Pro-active development of competitive strategies in respect of scheduling- and slot management

  • Ensuring schedule planning in accordance with pre-defined commercial- and operational objectives

  • Liaison with various internal and external stakeholders incl. preparation and participation at industry meetings and negotiations

  • Leading the regular Resource Planning Meeting with various interfaces (e.g. technics, operations, crew planning etc.)

  • Implementation and coordination of schedule changes during the season (outside Ops range)

  • Regular monitoring of schedule performance parameters

  • Elaboration of decision options and alternatives for management incl. preparation of management presentations

  • Actively support a holistic network management approach by contributing to other topics of the department, such as strategy, market planning, fleet development etc.

  • Ad-hoc tasks and analyses, as the case may be

  • Lead, develop and guide the team, securing quality of work within the department


Requirements



  • Comprehensive business education and/or BA- or MA degree in Business Administration, Management, Engineering or Aviation Management

  • Several years of experience in the airline industry (operational and/or commercial areas)

  • Ability to effectively manage complexity

  • Strong problem-solving attitude and ability to deal with multiple, interdependent issues at a time

  • Pragmatic and solution oriented mindset, driving results and processes

  • Strong analytical and conceptual thinking

  • Confident and able to perform consistently also under pressure

  • Assertiveness, resilience and high degree of flexibility

  • Diligent and systematic working approach

  • Hands-on team player who is comfortable working in a dynamic environment

  • Experience and knowledge with scheduling IT systems of advantage

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate successfully with people on all levels in different departments

  • Excellent written and oral English and German skills
