About Swiss Re

It anticipates and manages risk – from natural catastrophes to climate change, from ageing populations to cybercrime. The aim of the Swiss Re Group is to enable society to thrive and progress, creating new opportunities and solutions for its clients. Headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland, where it was founded in 1863, the Swiss Re Group operates through a network of around 80 offices globally. It is organised into three Business Units, each with a distinct strategy and set of objectives contributing to the Group’s overall mission.

About You

Are you passionate about working in a fast-paced environment and being part of a highly committed team that protects Swiss Re's financial stability? Do you have excellent communication and organisational expertise and love to collaborate with diverse teams globally?

In the role as FRM Governance & Operations Manager, you will be a member of the Financial Risk Management (FRM) Governance and Reporting team. We are a core function of FRM as we embrace the work of all other FRM teams. You will be collaborating closely with the senior leadership of FRM and be partnering with other teams in Group Risk Management.

This position encompasses the following key responsibilities:

  • You will manage various senior FRM management bodies, including close coordination with committee chairs, preparation of presentations and deliverables, supporting the meeting management process and, finally, also tracking action items appropriately.

  • You will build FRM's communication strategy by defining the appropriate communication channels according to target audience and by supporting the Head of FRM and the FRM Executive Team (ET) in all communication matters (e.g. town hall presentations).

  • You will strive at an effective delivery of the resource, cost and service planning, budgeting and forecasting process as well as other staff function activities (e.g. analysis of Employee Engagement Survey results), with a can-do mindset and a very high attention to detail.

  • You will support the efficient delivery of senior management reporting to various senior bodies across the Swiss Re Group (e.g. Board of Directors Investment Committee) and to the Head of FRM and the FRM ET, meeting the highest quality standards in terms of conciseness and consistency.

To achieve all of the above, you will be partnering with the other FRM teams to ensure reliable collaboration and communication within FRM as well as to other Group Risk Management departments. This role requires close collaboration with the individual FRM ET members. Interaction with other Group functions, e.g. Internal Audit, Asset Management will broaden the scope of this important interfacing role.

About the Team

The FRM Governance and Reporting team is part of the Financial Risk Management department within the Risk Management Function of Swiss Re Group. Our department's mission is to ensure that all financial risks are fully understood, appropriately governed and valued, as well as transparently monitored and controlled. Financial risks are prevalent across Swiss Re, from Asset Liability Management driven long-only investment mandates to complex hedge-fund strategies, and from straight credit exposures in Credit and Surety underwriting to risks embedded in highly structured transactions.

About You

  • The position requires at least a bachelor's degree complemented by a higher education, such as a Masters' degree or an MBA with a finance or risk management focus.

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in financial markets is required with a proven track record in best-in-class executive management reporting and communication.

  • A professional designation such as CFA, CAIA or FRM will be considered as a strong plus.

  • Excellent communication skills are an absolute pre-requisite with a strong focus on exclusive executive management presentation skills (e.g. Powerpoint).

  • Strong project management skills as well as a consulting and 'can do' mindset will be an essential pre-requisite to successfully deliver the key responsibilities of this role.

  • 'Attention for detail', dedication and striving at conceptual thinking as well as understanding a topic from start to finish will be key for success

  • The ability to effectively collaborate with a broad range of people and roles is expected.

  • Professional command of English is an absolute pre-requisite – other languages and experience in diverse cultural environments are a plus.

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. Our aim is to live visible and invisible diversity. We do not discriminate based on race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status. We also collaborate in a flexible working environment, providing you with a compelling degree of autonomy to decide how, when and where to carry out your tasks.
