The PositionThe unit Tools Innovation is responsible for the implementation of a professional development environment used both by internal developers and clients' customization experts.
As a System Engineer you will be part of a newly established operations engineering team. You will be responsible for the engineering and to support our clients as well as the internal organization in the context of containerized applications and its ecosystem of solutions and processes. You can expect a demanding and complex international environment, which is highly stimulating and encouraging.
You will transform stakeholder requirements into robust and effective solutions. Your Responsibilities
Investigating new or changed requirements regarding feasibility and complexity as well as their consequences on existing systems, standards and guidelines (requirements engineering)
Evolving the system architecture, selecting tools and system software as well as control components with the focus on container platform (primarily RedHat OpenShift)
Investigating possible alternatives and verifying their feasibility; defining the necessary technical and personnel resources
Planning, evaluating, migrating, developing/implementing, configuring and testing system
Analysing failures and error states; introducing and monitoring measures to fix them
Defining benchmarks and escalation procedures to describe service levels
Maintaining the technical system documentation (architecture description, feasibility analysis, requirements analysis, etc.)
Handling 2nd and 3rd level support cases from our external clients (initial analyses, information gathering, solution or escalation)
Cooperating with our external support partners to find the optimal and timely solution of client inquiries
EducationProfessional Requirements
University degree in Computer Science (BSc, MSc) or appropriate hands-on experience
Several years of experience in Linux systems administration, especially Red Hat/CentOS
Hands-on experience with containers platforms like OpenShift, Kubernetes or Docker
Hands-on experience with configuration management and automation tools like Ansible, Puppet or Terraform
Optional: Cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP)
