The Head of the IoT LAB will be responsible to shape and implement our global IoT strategy. The position will focus on the ideation, development, coordination of the commercialization and support of IoT-enabled services for our customers. We are looking for an experienced leader, with a strong technical background in software engineering and a proven track-record of leading IoT teams in an agile framework, understanding customers and business requirements.


Responsibility

The Head of the IoT LAB will be responsible to adjust the vision, develop our connected service product portfolio and manage our IoT-related innovation roadmap. He or she will report to the Head of GROUP R&D and closely partner with cross-functional teams and experts in our organization.
As a successful candidate, you will have a proven expertise in leading IoT development teams as well as helping to derive a monetization model from connected product data.


Main focus:



  • Help refine, articulate and communicate the BOBST IoT vision

  • Manage a team of around 20 IoT Engineers developing and maintaining the IoT services in coordination with the other Group entities

  • Partner with marketing and sales teams from our Business Units to support the commercialization strategies, go-to-market plans and revenue streams

  • Closely collaborate with specialists from Group IT and R&D to shape, implement, maintain and adapt the target IoT foundations, from the overall IoT stack architecture to connectivity solutions, customer front end Apps and analytics services

  • Steer technological choices and service development decisions for our selected IoT use cases according to our global Digital Development Processes

  • Establish a culture of agility in the IoT team, in compliance with our digital development process

  • Take the overall responsibility for all phases of the connected product life cycle and value-add from the collected data, and set key metrics to evaluate and track progress of those connected products

  • Define the innovation strategy for the IoT-enabled services and keep up to date on IoT trends

  • Develop and coach business teams to build IoT capability in their respective product portfolios


Requirements

This position requires an experienced leader with a broad and well-rounded set of skills, a high level of energy and enthusiasm, flexibility and organization savviness to lead a direct and matrixed team, drive cross-functional initiatives, learn new skills, and thrive in a fast-paced, team-based R&D environment.



  • Education: M.S. or PhD degree in an IoT related field (e.g. computer science, information systems, mathematics or physics). PMP or SCRUM certifications a plus

  • Minimum of 10 years B2B industry experience, and a minimum of 5 years leading and managing IoT software development teams, including IoT innovation and go-to-market experience (from ideation to service launch)

  • Strong technical knowledge of the IoT stack: Saas (including front and backend software development and data analytics), PaaS and IaaS (particularly AZURE or AWS), AZURE IoT edge, connectivity devices and smart sensors. Experience in machine automation systems a plus

  • Team leadership, with a proven ability to lead and coach several diverse, multidisciplinary, cross-functional agile teams of product owners, process experts, automation engineers, IoT specialists, data scientists and IT experts. Solid experience leading agile teams following SCRUM methodology

  • Team player with proven ability to connect and communicate with all levels of the company as well as external customers and suppliers.

  • Drive to align senior leaders and key stakeholders through excellent interpersonal skills, high EQ and persuasion

  • Business acumen and understanding, with the ability to spot opportunities, to complete financial analysis and models, and to convince other stakeholders

  • Some domestic and international travel required to customer and supplier locations and trade shows

  • Proficient in English, written and oral communication skills are critically important. French / German an asset but not mandatory
