The position is within the global department of Project Leaders in Pharmaceutical Sciences (PS). This department is a key contributor to safety assessment of drug candidates during discovery and development phases at Roche.


Your responsibilities are:



  • Representing PS in Global project teams and acting as a key contributor to the selection and timely development of potential new medicines in the field of Oncoimmunology through close interactions with discovery therapeutic areas, and affiliated non-clinical, clinical development and regulatory functions.

  • Being responsible for the execution of an integrated and scientifically sound nonclinical safety strategy from Target Assessment to clinical trial initiation and  registration

  • Leading Toxicology / Safety projects and PS expert teams  to maximize the impact on portfolio projects

  • Generating concise safety assessments for internal decision making, as well as regulatory submission documentation to facilitate profound health authority reviews and approval processes in all Phases of pre-clinical and clinical drug development.

  • Striving for scientific excellence and extraordinary results as well as the ability to prioritize and capability to deal with high expectations in a competitive environment.

  • Steering and coordinating non-clinical safety evaluations of development compounds within Roche as well as externally with consultants and development partners.


You have a DVM, PhD or equivalent and advanced experience in all areas of toxicology board certification in Toxicology such as DABT (nice to have) or equivalent and a minimum of five years’ experience as a project toxicologist in the area of oncoimmunology, with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple scientific projects across various development stages and make sound scientific interpretations and assessments. In addition you are expected to:



  • Lead a team of expert with your excellent interpersonal skills, your leadership capabilities and your collaborative attitude you successfully master problems in a matrix environment

  • Empower people, discover and develop potential and challenge in a positive manner where necessary

  • Strive for excellence in results and executing, setting priorities and seeking opportunities for simplification

  • Have a good publication record and activities in relevant international boards and forums are an asset
