Security Instructor

Description

Purpose of the job: 

• To carry out policing, surveillance and intervention duties with respect to the BIS’s premises, assets, staff and visitors.


• To ensure the smooth running of operations and interventions by supervising the team.


• To draft high-level documents, management reports and risk assessments


• This function involves special working hours and on-call duties outside regular working hours.

Principal accountabilities: 

• Protects and surveys the Bank’s premises, including on the occasion of events.


• Trains and guides team members in developing and maintaining their skills.


• Intervenes when incidents and emergencies occur.


• Carries basic firearms while on duty,


• Demonstrates and promotes a customer service-oriented attitude.


• Carries out intelligence work, risk/threat assessments, risk analysis and physical security reviews/surveys.


• Ability to draft policies, procedures, presentations and high-level documents and reports in English.


• Manages projects.

• Intervention: Active, dynamic, focused, able to cope with stress, fast thinker, quick learner.


• Intelligence: Open-minded, persistent, networker, OSINT/ HUMINT, keeps abreast of news, willing to carry out research.


• Security assessment: Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative assessment methodologies.

Qualifications and work experience: 

Track record in law enforcement or certificate in physical security (higher education and/or CPP, PSP, CSMP, etc) including weapons handling. Fit for duty. Other special skills and training in security would be appreciated. Minimum of 7 years’ experience in the field of security. Fluency in English and German; knowledge of other languages a plus.

The BIS’s head office is located in Basel, Switzerland, with representative offices in Hong Kong SAR and Mexico City. All new staff members are recruited on a fixed-term basis without expectation either of any contract renewal or conversion. The contract may however be extended or converted to an open-ended one at the end of the term, subject to organisational needs and individual performance.
